I am sufficiently flustered. I receive so much love in my inbox that all I can do is hold my face and screech. Most of the time I struggle to think of what to say back (social anxiety I guess), how to let you guys know how much it all truly means to me. I’m constantly blown away that anyone reads my fics or mini-comics or rambling text posts, or takes the time to reblog/like my art. I really, really appreciate it. Thank you, you guys make my face hurt from smiling so goddamn much.
I’ll be posting some concept work soon while I figure out this future!Borra comic. It’s really going to be one hell of an undertaking (50+pages, perhaps) so I’ve got a lot of work cut out for me before I start posting “issues”.
In case you missed an earlier post about it, it’s going to take place five years into the future. Bolin has been enrolled into the police academy for over a year, nearing graduation and entry into the ranks. Lin will be present at times, having been reinstated as Chief a few years before. Korra and Mako dated for almost a year before they moved in together, but three months later they had a rough break-up and have since parted ways. Korra delves into her political work and is often traveling, but she always visits when she comes home. After the break-up Mako focuses on probending and gains international celebrity status, doing very well for himself. Asami uses her networking skills and local fame to her advantage in politics and activism, and is now the youngest member of the Republic City council, representing non-benders in meetings and during lawmaking.
I do have some, um, headcanon-y questions for you guys. If you’d like to respond or see something in the comic, you can reply to this post, send me an ask, reblog this with your thoughts, etc etc. We can also trade e-mails if you’d prefer.
What do you think learning metalbending is like? We see a bit of it with Toph in the comics, but I wonder what sticks. I’m going to have to research police academies to see what it’s like and consists of, so if you have had experience with or knowledge of that kind of environment, let me know.
I’m also curious of where to put/what to do with the rest of the characters, like Iroh, Jinora, Ikki, etc. They’re not necessarily going to be in the comic, but they might be mentioned? Idk if you have ideas lets collaborate.
While this isn’t really going to be… focused on it or especially graphic, they are adults and some scenes may be nsfw. I don’t normally post stuff like that (I even have a disclaimer on my page) so I just wanted to let you guys know…. that. Um.
One last thing, since I don’t want to clog up dashes or be a nuisance- what’s the best way, do you think, to make big regular posts like this? I’m thinking of using a cap as a “header” for each chapter and putting the rest under the cut. That way I can work big without worrying about formatting for a dash (500x700 is sooo smallll). Of course, I’ll make a master post (probably the first chapter) and add navigation later, but. Yeah. I always feel a little scared of putting art under cuts for some reason? I don’t know but I’ll stop rambling.
I love you guys. I love this fandom too much to let go off-season, you’re kinda stuck with me. (Especially the SS Borra- resident chef speaking here, dishin’ up the feelsss) WHICH REMINDS ME. I keep seeing these silly people saying silly things like that Borra is a submarine now??! sigh guys, it just isn’t true. Our ship never sank, either. The SS Borra is a magical castle in the sky where Bolin and Korra get married and eat clouds with spoons and use stars as ice cubes in their moonlight punch forever and ever.
